1994年，玉龙雪山景区开园，此后旅游发展迅猛，形成了冰川公园、牦牛坪、甘海子、云杉坪、蓝月谷等知名景点，建立了雪山高尔夫球场、“印象·丽江”等标志性品牌，但同时也存在不少急需解决的问题。
玉龙雪山，位于云南省丽江市玉龙纳西族自治县。
1984年，成立玉龙雪山省级自然保护区；
1988年，进入第二批国家级风景名胜区名单；
1993年，经省政府批准成立玉龙雪山省级旅游开发区；
2007年，经原国家旅游局正式批准，玉龙雪山成为国家首批5A级旅游景区；
2009年，成立玉龙雪山冰川国家地质公园。
经过近30年的发展，如今，玉龙雪山已成为了享誉海内外的著名旅游景区。
景区旅游收入已成为丽江市的旅游经济支柱之一，玉龙雪山成为丽江市乃至云南省最重要的景区之一。
